NICHOLAS WISNOSKI, M.D.
Dr. Wisnoski is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist licensed in NY and NJ, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, sleep disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and a number of other psychiatric conditions. Appointments are available for initial evaluations and follow-up appointments for patients in NY and NJ. Office appointments are available as well if necessary with Dr. Wisnoski in multiple Manhattan Office locations. He offers a unique perspective to patient care as he provides a holistic approach, emphasizing a connection between the mind and body. Specifically, Dr. Wisnoski provides treatment options including medication management and/or psychotherapeutic approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, supportive therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. Dr. Wisnoski's goal is to help people gain control over their lives and to optimize their potential in a variety of areas, including work performance, interpersonal relationships, sleep hygiene, and overall health. Are you feeling overwhelmed by life's stressors? Have you been feeling less motivated or depressed? Are you having trouble controlling your thoughts and worrying excessively? Many of Dr. Wisnoski's patients suffer from these issues, in addition to work-related and relationship problems. Dr. Wisnoski strives to help people cope with the stresses of life and surpass obstacles. Every patient is unique with their own life story and this must be taken into account when identifying the best treatment. Dr. Wisnoski targets the neurochemical, cognitive, and behavioral causes of mental health illness.
All new clients receive a comprehensive initial evalution which lasts 60-90 minutes. During your initial evaluation, you will discuss your reasons for seeking a consultation and an individualized treatment plan will be developed. Recommendations may consist of medication management, therapy, or a combination. Dr. Wisnoski is also trained in internal medicine which provides him with an added understanding of the relationship between medical and mental health illness.
Dr. Wisnoski will work hard to ensure that you are receiving the highest quality of care using evidenced based practice. In addition, he provides a compassionate and welcoming environment for patients to talk about sensitive topics. Dr. Wisnoski also is an advocate of collaborative care and often works closely with your other providers, including primary care physicians and other therapists if already receiving psychotherapy.

What conditions does Dr. Wisnoski treat and what treatment options are available?
Dr. Wisnoski treats depression, anxiety, attention deficits, sleeping problems, grief, relationship problems, and a number of other psychiatric conditions.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment by contacting Dr. Wisnoski via email at contact@newyorkcitypsychiatry.com or calling 646-828-9005 where you can schedule a 60 minute initial appointment or a 30 minute follow-up appointment. If this is your first appointment Dr. Wisnoski will be in contact with you to ask some brief questions and answer any questions you have. You will also be contacted via phone 24-48 hrs prior to your appointment to confirm your appointment.
Can I talk with Dr. Wisnoski before the first appointment?
Dr. Wisnoski is available to talk briefly on the phone at no cost before the appointment to answer any questions and to determine if NYC Psychiatry is the appropriate setting for treatment.
How long is the initial evaluation?
All new patients receive a comprehensive initial evaluation ranging from 60-90 minutes. During the initial visit, you will discuss your reasons for seeking a consultation and an individualized treatment plan will be developed, which may include psychopharmacology and/or therapy. The initial appointment is a consultation, meaning that Dr. Wisnoski may recommend a referral to another provider.
What if I am already seeing a therapist?
Many patients seek treatment specifically for medication management and already have a therapist. Dr. Wisnoski commonly works closely with your therapist and your other providers to ensure collaborative care.
How long are subsequent follow-up appointments?
Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes long.
How often will I need to be seen for appointments?
This varies depending on your situation. Most patients receiving medication management require monthly appointments initially; however, some patients may require more or less frequent sessions depending on area of treatment. Often appointments are scheduled less frequently as patients demonstrate improvement with treatment.
Does Dr. Wisnoski take insurance?
Dr. Wisnoski is an out-of-network provider, meaning he does not directly work with insurance companies. He does provide an invoice to patients, which contains your diagnosis and a description of services obtained. This can be submitted to insurance company by the patient for reimbursement. It is recommended that you contact your insurance company to inquire about your out-of-network benefits.
What if I do not go to my scheduled appointment?
You will receive a reminder text message 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. In the event that you miss or cancel an appointment within 24 hours of the scheduled time, you will be charged half the full session fee. Keep in mind that insurance companies do not reimburse for missed sessions. If you reschedule greater than 24 hrs prior to your appointment there will be no fee.
What states does Dr. Wisnoski provide telehealth appointment? Dr. Wisnoski has a full license in the states of NY and NJ. Dr. Wisnoski provides office appointments in NY and telemedicine appointments in the states of NY and NJ.
